OUR SETS

Monarch Studios utilizes over 20,000 sq. ft. to serve as a friendly and creative space for filmmakers, photographers, event coordinators, and artists. Storytelling and community are simply part of who we are. Our team of industry professionals also offers both production and post-productions services if needed.

Monarch Studios is located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of East Los Angeles with the stunning backdrop of the iconic Sixth Street Bridge. We are less than 1 mile from the Los Angeles Arts District. We are proud to support and recommend many local and family-owned businesses in our surrounding community.

OUR HISTORY

Monarch Studios was founded by Los Angeles native Andrew Kappas in 2022. Along with owning and operating Monarch Studios, Andrew is an accomplished filmmaker who also has extensive experience in the music industry.

The name Monarch Studios was inspired by Monarch butterflies, the unofficial mascot of East Los Angeles as well as a beautiful tribute to Andrew’s father. The Monarch butterfly stands in solidarity with immigrants as a symbol of human rights and diversity and is an ode to our beautiful and historic community.

Andrew Kappas opened Media City Studios in 2021 which was rebranded to Monarch Studios in 2022. As an activist with a deep respect for creative professionals as a critical component of the entertainment industry, Andrew is passionate about elevating and raising social awareness through stories that may often go unheard, yet deserve to be shared with the world.
